Get comfortable

       As cliché as this heading may seem, it is what we need in troubling times. On this path to navigating life, every individual finds their way around surviving. But, unfortunately, some eventually don’t because they do not have the key to life. As John would say, “and the life was the light of men (John 1 v 1-5)” so those who survived do because of the Life and Light. When some people are trying to figure out how to go about life, they often get to the point where they feel pressured enough to prove a point to others rather than looking up to Jesus who is our “Ultimate Goal”. Have you ever gotten to the point where you feel so much pressure because others are also pressing on to the goal, maybe someone so close to you, is doing so many things, and you’re battling with getting just one thing done? The scripture encourages us in many ways as we take each step, one day at a time.

KNOW YOUR STRENGTH.

            The strength of every believer is Christ because it is him who works in us to will and do (Philippians 2 v 12 AMPC). Whether we do many things or one thing, it is God at work in us giving us the power and strength in us all. Another scripture, Romans 12 v 6, teaches us to do things according to the proportion of faith given to each of us. Hence, it is God at work in our lives giving faith; it is same faith for one thing and for many other things.

EMBRACE YOUR UNIQUENESS.

        Come to the light of how much time and effort God put into creating and investing resources in you for the unique purpose of your being ”…you are fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14 KJV. This is not just about looks; it encompasses every other area of your life and wellbeing.

GET COMFORTABLE WITH DOING ONE THING AT A TIME.

         Doing one thing at a time does not mean you’re not working. It simply means you already know your strength in Christ and what he has willed you to do.  Also, Ecclesiastes 9 vs 10 encourages us that whatever our hands; one or many things, find doing we should do it with all our might.

SHUN DISTRACTIONS.

        Imagine you driving to a destination, which should naturally take about an hour. While on your way, you stopped by every place where things were happening or where events were taking place. You would spend longer time getting to where you’re going. The same goes for walking and knowing with the Lord, you might get closer to him, but you’d take a long time because you’ve spent half of your time, the longer part of your journey, giving attention to things that do not matter on your journey.

TRUST YOUR PROCESS.

           Process is very important on your life journey, as difficult as this may look. Trusting your process does not get you overwhelmed at any point. It is simply the act of holding on to faith even when everything does not look like it.  It is at this time you build momentum from what you have received in Christ. A lot of personal discoveries and reshaping of character to become like Christ happens in the process.

RESIST THE URGE TO PROVE A POINT.

         As believers, all the points we need to prove has been proven by our Lord Jesus Christ, all we do is enjoy the grace. We do not need public appraisal as we are raised in Christ. Moreover, we do not want to steal from the praise that is due to our master, we cannot outshine our master because he is our Chief-cornerstone. If anyone, even yourself ask you to prove a point, just point to Christ and talk about all he done that we cannot do for ourselves. If we cannot be saved by works but by grace, the one thing or many things after being saved is only an expression of more abundant grace. So, get comfortable in who you are in Christ rather than what you do or can do. The best way to get comfortable is to make all reference to Christ and that we are seated in heavenly places and have all authority in him. Praise God!
